This course offers essential skills on how surveys are developed.

Topics include:

• questionnaire design
• sample design
• data collection
• weighting, estimating and interpreting data

Participants will gain the basic knowledge to understand and evaluate surveys and research proposals and allow them to design, conduct, and analyze a basic survey. This also includes an introduction to Excel and Beyond 2020 software. Newly released data from the Aboriginal Children’s Survey (2006) is expected to be available for this session. Heather Tait will be providing backgroud and update on the release of these survey findings. Inuvialuit Regional Corporation

IRC was established with the overall responsibility of managing the affairs of the Settlement as outlined in the IFA. Its mandate is to continually improve the economic, social and cultural well-being of the Inuvialuit through implementation of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA) and by all other available means. IRC staff are invited to bring their research interests/themes to this workshop.

 

The National Aboriginal Health Organization (NAHO) is an Aboriginal-designed and -controlled body committed to influencing and advancing the health and well-being of Aboriginal Peoples by carrying out knowledge-based strategies.

Naasautit:Inuit Health Statistics is a project sponsored by Health Canada through the Aboriginal Health Transition Fund. Naasautit was created as a partnership of the four regional Inuit Land Claims Organizations and is coordinated by Inuit Tuttarvingat. This training event is offered through a collaboration of NAHO and Statistics Canada.
